With ISHRAE Delhi Chapter’s leadership in industry, the Climate Summit is envisioned be a landmark initiative to unite thought leaders, industry professionals, and youth voices under one bold, action-oriented platform. It is going to be a platform that sparks innovation, dialogue, and action.
As the world grapples with escalating climate extremes—from heatwaves to flooding—there is a pressing need for collective, interdisciplinary action. The HVAC&R industry, built environment professionals, and policymakers must collaborate to chart transformative solutions that are not only technically sound but climate responsive.
The world is at a pivotal climate crossroads. In 2024, global surface temperatures surged to an unprecedented 1.6°C above pre-industrial levels, breaching the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C threshold for the first time. Remarkably, early 2025 followed suit as the second warmest start to any year on record—despite La Niña’s usual cooling influence. Atmospheric CO₂ concentrations have climbed past 420 ppm, a level not seen in over 4 million years. This warming trend has intensified extreme weather events such as heatwaves, floods, and wildfires, with some occurrences now ten times more likely and up to 2°C hotter than historical norms.
Within this backdrop, the building and construction sector plays a major role, contributing 34% of global CO₂ emissions, 32% of energy use, and 18% of emissions linked to high-impact materials like cement and steel. Encouragingly, 2023 marked the first instance where construction growth didn’t spike emissions, underscoring the promise of sustainable practices. However, over half of new buildings still lack energy codes, and retrofit rates must triple by 2030 to stay on course with Net Zero goals. Meanwhile, operational emissions from buildings have soared to 9.8 gigatonnes of CO₂—well beyond the 6.7 gigatonne ceiling needed to align with climate targets.
Climate Summit shall therefore act as a movement that not only brings industry together but also accelerates the climate action for a net zero tomorrow and realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Positioned as an action-oriented movement, not just another event. Integrates technical rigor with policy, innovation, and youth activism. Aligned with the vision of Viksit a forward-looking, sustainable India.
The Summit arrives as the world crosses critical climate thresholds. With 2024 being the hottest year on record and 2025 showing no signs of reversal, urgency is paramount !!!
