Prof. Mohammad Rihan is serving as Director General of National Institute of Solar Energy. In this position he is leading the research and development, and capacity building initiatives in the area of solar energy in line with the national requirements. He is serving as Chairperson of sectional committee on Solar PV of Bureau of Indian Standards, and Chairperson of Technology Advisory Group Solar Energy, ARCI. Before joining as DG, NISE on deputation Dr. Mohammad Rihan worked as a Professor of Electrical Engineering at AMU for about 22 years with significant contributions in the areas of smart grid and Solar Energy. He has led the integration of 6.5MWp solar PV plants in the campus distribution grid; one of the the largest such installation in any academic institution in the country. Two of the PhD works under his guidance have been awarded the Prime Minister Research Fellowship. Dr. Rihan has authored a textbook on ‘Green Energy and Sustainable Development’ published by Cambridge University Press (UK). He has also completed sponsored research projects of UPCST, MNRE and UGC. He has provided technical consultancy to various projects of smart city, Agra, Aligarh and Bareilly and to the UP-Power Transmission Corporation Limited and has delivered keynote and invited talks on climate change, solar energy and smart grid at numerous organizations, industry, and institutes. He is a recipient of IEEE PES Award for Excellence in Solar Photovoltaic Systems 2025, and Gold Medal for securing first position in B.Tech. (Electrical Engineering). He is an elected Fellow of the IET(UK), IE(India), and IETE and Senior Member of IEEE . He is chair-elect of IEEE UP section and elected vice chair of executive committee of Delhi local network of IET(UK)

With over 30 years of leadership experience, Sanjeev Sharma is a well-recognized name in the water infrastructure and sustainable energy space, having built and led multi-million-dollar initiatives across India and SAARC. He has successfully developed and secured EPC, DBO, and PPP projects in seawater desalination, wastewater recycling, water conveyance, and effluent treatment, with total orders exceeding USD 627 million and a pipeline exceeding USD 3.5 billion.
Sanjeev is now at the forefront of India’s Green Hydrogen transition, with a deep understanding of project development, electrolyzer integration, RE–Desalination–H₂ coupling, and emerging business models under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). His expertise extends to solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and the co location of these with large-scale water treatment infrastructure to optimize both cost and sustainability.

Dr. Hina Zia is currently Professor, Department of Architecture and Head of the Department of Planning and has served two terms as Dean, Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics at Jamia Millia Islamia, a Central University in New Delhi, India. Her specific area of interest is facilitating the undergraduate and post-graduate students explore the interface of sustainable design, ecology, economics and urban development and build their capacities to look for alternative approaches while working on solutions through their studio exercises on sustainable buildings, resilient cities and urban/regional planning. She has been involved in various capacities in the decarbonisation journey of the nation, particularly looking at the construction sector (both micro and macro levels). She conceptualised and started the Department of Design and Innovation and the Department of Planning. She teaches undergraduate, post graduate and Ph.D students. She was the Principal Investigator(JMI) of Smart cities and Academia Towards Action & Research (SAAR), a joint initiative of MoHUA, NIUA and academic institutes to give students a platform to engage in the Here and Now of the urban domain and led teams for nine projects. She also colead a study on impact assessment of Public Bike Sharing and common mobility cards in Smart Cities’ as part of ‘Impact Study of Smart City Projects under MoHUA and SCM (SAARSameeksha). She recently completed a study on ‘Approach to Energy-efficient and Residential Buildings in Kerala’ funded by the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA). She also led a students’ team for documentation of lakes/water bodies as part of Amrit Sarovar Mission. She led the team for partnering with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). She has been instrumental in forming partnerships with international institutions like Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Siemens Healthineers etc.
Prior to joining the University in 2017 as a Professor, Hina worked as an Associate Director with GBCI (the only certification and credentialing body within the green business and sustainability industry to exclusively administer project certifications and professional credentials of LEED, EDGE, GRESB, Parksmart, PEER, SITES, TRUE and WELL). She also worked as Associate Director with the Sustainable Habitat Division at TERI and Adjunct Faculty at TERI University. She has worked as a Lead Green Building Consultant on many prestigious projects.
